Job summary

Press Glass Inc in Ridgeway, VA is seeking a CDL A driver to transport finished goods and raw materials to local and long-distance customers. You will inspect vehicles for safety, maintain electronic logs, plan routes, and may work overnight or on weekends.

Compensation includes hourly and/or per mile pay plus per diem. Qualified candidates hold a Class A CDL with a clean driving record and at least 2 years of driving experience, and possess basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• May drive tractor-trailer or straight truck making deliveries to local or long-distance customers.
• Inspects vehicles pre and post trips as required by DOT and communicates if repairs are required.
• Maintains ELD using device provided.
• Secures material before moving loads.
• Assists in unloading of material (may consist of manual assistance or boom).
• Checks count of material for accuracy.
• Checks material for damages.
• Plans routes and delivery schedules with Shipping Supervisor.
• Obtains authorizations for pickups not pre-approved.
• Maintains license as required by DOT with up to date physical.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OR SUMMARY

Transporting finished goods and raw materials over land. Inspecting vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance. Planning routes and meeting delivery schedules. It will be a mix of overnight and local trips. Pay consist of hourly and/or per mile plus per diem.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Requires regular walking, talking, standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crawling and keyboarding.
• Manually lift up to 35 pounds on a regular basis; or more using assistance.
• May be on call and/or work night and weekend shifts as necessary.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Exposure to extreme temperatures (summer & winter) and weather conditions
