Job summary

Welch Packaging Group is seeking a professional driver to safely operate tractor-trailers or box trucks and deliver finished products to customers. You will follow route plans, maintain compliance with DOT and company policies, and ensure accurate loading and documentation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.

• Prior experience driving large vehicles (box truck or similar).
• Experience delivering freight preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer or box truck to deliver finished product per route plan.
• Maintain vehicle in accordance with company policy and safety standards.
• Support on-time delivery by following established routes and safety regulations.
• Inspect loads for proper loading and accuracy before departure.
• Verify product count during loading and obtain necessary signatures for bills of lading.
• Comply with DOT regulations and company DAART program; adhere to performance measures.

SUMMARY

Responsible for safely and efficiently operating a tractor-trailer or box truck to deliver finished product to customers in accordance with state and federal laws

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Complies with Driver responsibilities as outlined in company DAART program and as required by DOT.
• Maintain vehicle in accordance to Elkhart Transportation management policy
• Operates vehicle in a safe and efficient manner complying with company policy and procedures, and applicable state and federal laws.
• Support on time delivery by transporting loads by established route to proper destination as efficient as possible while observing all traffic laws and safety regulations.
• Inspect trailer loads to ensure proper loading processes and it is the correct load before leaving facility.
• Verify product count while truck is being loaded.
• Comply with obtaining correct acknowledgement or signature and date for bill of lading and necessary signatures and date; return properly completed documentation to Transportation Manager.
• Comply with performance measures

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

• High School Diploma or GED required
• CDLA License

Experience

• Prior experience driving in large vehicles, such as box truck or similar
• Demonstrated experience practicing safe driving practices
• Previous experience delivering and handling freight preferred
