Job summary

Elko County in Nevada seeks a Driver II (CDL Transit Bus Driver) to operate GET My Ride Public Transit buses safely and on schedule. A CDL C with Passenger endorsement is required, and the driver will handle fare collection, pre- and post-trip inspections, and assist passengers with varying needs throughout the shift.

The role includes daily cleaning, safety meetings, working with dispatch on routes, and occasional non-route tasks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of transportation experience preferred.
• Must provide a clean Motor Vehicle Record.
• Must maintain a valid Nevada driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and efficient transportation for the passengers of GET My Ride Public Transit System.
• Operate the buses on time according to the schedule.
• Pick up passengers on dispatched requests for transportation.
• Collect fare from the passengers.
• Fuel buses daily.
• Assist the passenger(s), which means getting out of the seat to assist passengers enter and exit the vehicle as far as the door to their building.
• Conduct a thorough pre-trip inspection of the vehicle prior to operation daily.
• Conduct a thorough post-trip inspection of the vehicle at the end of shift daily, including checking for damage.
• Report needed repairs and/or damage to management.
• Properly operate the lift, tie down wheelchairs and stow lose items safely.
