Job summary

Brunswick County's Public Utilities is seeking a CDL Training and Safety Coordinator to lead CDL training and safety programs. Under limited supervision, the role ensures personnel are trained and certified as CDL operators while meeting safety objectives.

The position plans, coordinates, and oversees training events (classroom and behind‑the‑wheel) and ensures FMCSA requirements for certification and testing. OSHA mandated training is implemented and records maintained.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required; OSHA certification preferred.
• Minimum five years in safety/construction oversight.
• CDL Class A with Tank Endorsement or ability to obtain.
• Two years CDL driving experience or behind-the-wheel instruction.
• Experience in utility operations a plus.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and oversee CDL training events including classroom and behind‑the‑wheel instruction.
• Ensure FMCSA certification and testing compliance for utility staff.
• Prepare safety program reports and maintain training records.
• Implement OSHA mandated safety training and track attendance.
• Act as safety lead for Public Utilities when Safety Officer is unavailable.
• Work as an essential employee during inclement weather or emergencies.
