Job summary

Republic Services offers a Driver Trainee program designed to train you to obtain a commercial driver’s license (CDL). Upon completion, you will transition to a Driver role across lines of business such as Residential, Commercial, Industrial or Roll-Off. The program includes classroom study, on-road training, and access to a loaned truck for CDL testing.

Responsibilities

• Complete Republic Services CDL training program with classroom and on-road instruction.
• After CDL, perform Driver duties in Residential, Commercial, Industrial or Roll-Off.
• Learn to inspect vehicle pre- and post-operation following company policy.
• Report safety issues on standard reports.
• Drive on designated routes, read route sheets and service customers as assigned.
• Operate heavy trucks and load/dispose waste per safety policies.
• Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag containers accordingly.
• Monitor vehicle condition to minimize downtime and ensure operability.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures.
• After CDL, assume Driver responsibilities in one of the lines of business.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
