Job summary

DeKalb Health is seeking a Training Instructor to develop, assess, and deliver Agency-wide transit training, including Federal/State mandated programs, vehicle operator instruction, and safety modules. The role covers classroom and on-the-job training, with emphasis on compliance, safety, and customer service.

The incumbent will create curricula, evaluate operator performance, and ensure training materials meet regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or GED and CDL with Passenger endorsement.
• Three years of public transit experience preferred.
• Must possess Class B CDL with Passenger endorsement for operation of transit vehicles.
• Experience in training design and evaluating operator performance is essential.
• Ability to develop and refine training curriculum and materials within regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Develops and conducts training for operators and staff.
• Evaluates driving skills using checklists and provides feedback.
• Maintains training curriculum and assessment tests.
• Monitors laws and regulations and ensures compliance; advises management.
• Creates training materials and lesson plans; aligns with policies.
• Supervises training sessions and oversees coach operator line instructors.
• Conducts classroom and on-board training for new operators and trainees.
• Ensures operators are trained before revenue service.
