Job summary

The City of Greenville (SC) offers an entry-level Bus Operator in Training position designed for individuals with little to no professional driving experience. Trainees will complete a six to twelve week training program to earn a CDL (Class B) and learn safety, inspections, customer service, routes, and driving.

Promotion to Bus Operator is contingent on proficiency and evaluations. Sign-On Bonus of $500 with first paycheck and 2% of gross earnings during the first year at the anniversary date.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have at least six months of work experience involving customer service or public contact.

Responsibilities

• Obtain CDL License and complete training program within required weeks.
• Complete Bus Operator Training Program covering rules, inspections, safety, customer service, route familiarity, and driving techniques.
• Operate bus on regular routes under supervision, collect fares, assist ADA passengers as needed, and report safety issues.
