Job summary

Federal Express Corporation is seeking a yard switcher/package handler to move trailers between yards and doors in Covington, LA. The role involves loading/unloading packages by hand, safety-focused operations, and coordinating with central control.

Must have a valid CDL-A and a DOT file; six months of related experience preferred. This on-site position requires the ability to lift, push, pull, and sort packages while maintaining safety standards.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a DOT file.
• CDL-A required to operate in interstate commerce.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions regarding work duties and safety methods.
• Ability to discern numbers to sort packages correctly.

Responsibilities

• Hook and move a parked trailer from yard to a load/unload door or from a door to the yard.
• Coordinate trailer movements with management/central control.
• Document trailer moves using Yard Management System or switcher cards.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections on switcher equipment.
• Follow yard switching safety processes and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
