Job summary

FedEx is seeking a yard switcher to move trailers to and from unload/load doors and around the yard. The role may include loading/unloading packages by hand, with emphasis on safety and efficiency. You will coordinate trailer movements and document actions using the yard management system or switcher cards.

The ideal candidate has a valid CDL Class A, a DOT file, and the ability to follow instructions in a fast-paced environment. No advanced education is required, and on-site work is typical.

Qualifications

• No formal education required.
• Six months of experience as a package handler or switching/CDL operator preferred.
• Must have a valid CDL Class A and DOT compliance.

Responsibilities

• Move trailers in yard between unload/load doors and yard.
• Coordinate with management to sequence trailer movements.
• Document trailer moves using yard system or switcher cards.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections on switcher equipment.
• Maintain safety and proper yard switching procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.
