Job summary

The City of Newton seeks a HMEO - Sweeper to operate street sweeping equipment, perform maintenance, and assist in snow and ice operations under the Sustainable Materials Management Division.

The role requires a High School diploma, CDL B, 1–3 years in waste collection, and the ability to work in outdoor conditions. Valid CDL and safe operation are essential, with good physical stamina and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent and 1–3 years of experience in waste collection.
• CDL B required (Applicants with a CDL permit could be considered for this position)

Responsibilities

• Operate street sweeping equipment and complete daily work assignments.
• Daily cleaning and light maintenance of street sweeping equipment.
• Perform CDL circle checks and basic servicing of equipment.
• Participate in snow and ice removal operations and other emergencies as needed.
• Maintain logs and report malfunctions to supervisor.
