Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking a distribution operations role in our plant that operates a shag semi-tractor to move refrigerated trailers and tankers around the yard and to the cold storage area. You will perform routine maintenance and set temperatures per customer requests.

Required are at least 1 year of truck driving, a valid Class A CDL, a clean driving record, and the ability to operate a forklift. Flex hours, overtime, and bilingual ability are considered an asset.

Qualifications

• Must have at least 1 year truck driving experience.
• Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
• Clean driving record.
• Ability to safely operate a forklift.
• General mechanical knowledge.
• Bilingual (preferred) and able to work with a diverse workforce.
• Must be able to work flexible hours; possibly overtime, 6–7 days per week during peak times and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Move refrigerated trailers and tankers using a semi-tractor in plant yard and to the cold storage area.
• Perform routine light maintenance on equipment (cleanliness, pre-inspection, etc.).
• Set and monitor unit temperatures according to customer requests.
• Complete shag fee and wash out tickets.
