Job summary

Salter Transportation, Inc. is seeking a full-time CDL school bus driver to transport students safely to and from school. The role requires assisting students with entering/exiting the vehicle, ensuring proper seat belt use, and securely handling wheelchairs when needed.

You will work a 40-hour week, including some evenings or weekends as needed. Applicants must have a valid CDL with a school bus endorsement, pass background checks, and obtain required licensing.

Qualifications

• CDL license with active school bus certificate and renewal required.
• Clear English communication with students, parents, teachers, and employees.
• Willingness to work with school-age children with special needs.
• Pass CORI, SORI, TB, fingerprint tests and initial/random drug screenings.
• Pass annual physical to obtain CDL school bus certificate.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate school buses and vans for students according to state and federal laws.
• Safely assist students entering/exiting, using seat belts and securing wheelchairs when needed.
• Monitor student behavior and report unsafe or inappropriate conduct to management.
• Communicate effectively via two-way radio with the operations team.
• Perform assigned duties and special projects as needed.
