Job summary

St. Catherine's School is seeking a part-time, hourly School Bus Driver to operate transportation vehicles on daily routes and field trips.

The role requires a CDL with air-brake endorsement (preferred) and a clean driving record, with at least one year of bus driving experience and two years working with children. The position involves pre-trip inspections, wheelchair safe operation on ramps, and coordination with Athletics for event transport.

Qualifications

• Valid Virginia Driver’s License.
• CDL with air-brake endorsement preferred.
• One or more years of bus driving experience.
• Two or more years of experience working with children preferred.
• Clean driving record with no at-fault accidents or traffic citations within the last five years.
• Must be able to work various shifts.

Responsibilities

• Drives a school transportation vehicle within prescribed route(s) in accordance with time schedules; picking up and discharging students at designated stops.
• Coordinate with Athletics to transport athletes to/from sports events (local and distance).
• Transports students and teachers on field trips to various locations; planning necessary route(s) and stops as needed.
• May operate a special ramp bus; loads and unloads students in wheelchairs on and off bus, inspecting wheelchair for safety.
• Maintains order of student passengers according to school policy.
• Pre-trip the vehicle properly.
• Have bus fueled and ready to go 15 minutes prior to departure time.
• Fill out time sheet and mileage reports daily.
• Conduct safety and operational inspection of assigned vehicle daily.
• Reports needed mechanical repairs when necessary.
