Job summary

Durango School District 9-R is hiring CDL Bus Drivers for the 2026/2027 school year. Positions range 5-8 hours daily, with 9-12 months of work and opportunities for extra hours. Training is provided; CDL with Class B and P2S endorsement is required at hire, with a starting hourly rate of $24.11 for those without CDL.

A one-time bonus is offered for new staff and housing may be available. Typical duties include transporting students safely, assisting with loading and unloading, and maintaining

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must obtain CDL with Class B and P2S endorsement.
• CPR and First Aid certifications required within 90 days after hire.
• Criminal background check required for hire.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must pass the annual written test and driving performance test.
• Must pass DOT physical.

Responsibilities

• Transport students on assigned routes safely and on time.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and maintain the bus.
• Assist students with loading/unloading and seating, including wheelchairs.
• Communicate with Scheduler/Dispatcher and parents as needed.
• Keep bus clean and complete required paperwork and reports.
• Participate in safety drills and professional development.
