Job summary

Rumpke Waste & Recycling is hiring Roll Off Drivers to service customers by delivering, removing, and hauling roll-off containers to disposal sites. A valid Class B CDL (automatic-only) is required, with 1–2 years of CDL driving experience preferred.

Candidates should be able to read maps, work with dispatch on additional orders, and maintain vehicle cleanliness. The role involves nights, weekends, and overtime as needed, with potential for growth within a large, family-owned company.

• Waste-industry experience is a plus.
• Must be at least 19 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Operate roll-off delivery and removal on assigned routes or work orders.
• Maintain route sheets and perform daily DVIR inspections.
• Inspect containers, secure loads, and assist with tarps and cleanup.
• Interact professionally with customers and dispatch for extra work orders.

Roll Off Drivers are responsible for servicing customers with the hauling of waste or construction debris to a disposal site. Roll Off Drivers will deliver, remove, and haul roll-off containers to/from customers sites.

Responsibilities of Position:

• Operate truck in a safe and compliant manner to provide roll-off delivery and removal services to customers on an assigned route(s) or by work order
• Maintains and updates route sheets
• Conduct daily pre-trip/post-trip inspections and complete DVIR logs
• Visually inspect roll off containers and ensure proper load securement to prevent loss of trash and debris
• Clean up areas located around compactor when servicing customers as needed
• Maintain cleanliness of truck cab
• Enter/exit the truck multiple times per day
• Climb to hook/unhook containers, move items to smooth the load and secure tarps
• Professionally interact with internal and external customers, and work with dispatch on additional work orders to ensure quality customer service
• Perform other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility:

• This position will not manage employees

Skills & Abilities Needed for Position:

• Ability to read and understand a map and/or navigation system
• Excellent truck driving/maneuvering skills
• Ability to drive manual transmission is preferred
• General knowledge of the truck mechanics
• Good written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers
• Must be able to read and speak the English language well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training

Experience & Knowledge Needed for Position:

• 1-2 years CDL truck driving experience preferred
• Waste industry experience, a plus

Physical Requirements in a Regular Workday:

• Frequently lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 50 lbs
• Occasionally lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 100 lbs
• Continuously working outside in changing temperatures, wet/humid conditions
• Continuously working in areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matter
• Frequently stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling
• Frequently climbing and/or balancing
• Frequently sitting/standing/walking

Additional Working Conditions/Aspects:

• Must have at least a valid Class B CDL
• No E-restriction, must be able to drive a manual transmission.
• Must have a valid DOT Medical Card or able to obtain prior to hire
• Must be at least 19 years of age
• No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years
• Must not have any DUI's or OVI's within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 years
• Possible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas
• Exposure to residential and commercial waste
• Ability to travel between offices, as required
• Ability to work flexible hours; expected to work nights and weekends as needed
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays
• Legally eligible to work in the United States
• Valid driver’s license (if applicable)
• Must successfully complete pre-employment testing
• Must be able to read and speak the English language
