Job summary

Rumpke Waste & Recycling is seeking a Roll Off Driver to service customers by hauling waste and construction debris to disposal sites on assigned routes. You will deliver and remove roll-off containers, manage route sheets, and ensure loads are secure and compliant with safety standards.

The role requires a valid Class B CDL, DOT Medical Card, and good English communication. You may work nights and weekends as needed, with a strong emphasis on safety and customer service.

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years CDL truck driving experience preferred.
  • Must have at least a valid Class B CDL.
  • Must have a valid DOT Medical Card or able to obtain prior to hire.

Responsibilities

  • Operate truck in a safe and compliant manner to provide roll-off delivery and removal services to customers on an assigned route(s) or by work order.
  • Maintain and update route sheets and inspect daily pre-trip/post-trip DVIR logs.
  • Visually inspect roll-off containers and ensure load securement to prevent loss of trash and debris.
  • Interact professionally with customers and dispatch on additional work orders to ensure quality service.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Roll Off Drivers are responsible for servicing customers with the hauling of waste or construction debris to a disposal site. Roll Off Drivers will deliver, remove, and haul roll-off containers to/from customers sites.

Responsibilities Of Position
  • Operate truck in a safe and compliant manner to provide roll-off delivery and removal services to customers on an assigned route(s) or by work order
  • Maintains and updates route sheets
  • Conduct daily pre-trip/post-trip inspections and complete DVIR logs
  • Visually inspect roll off containers and ensure proper load securement to prevent loss of trash and debris
  • Clean up areas located around compactor when servicing customers as needed
  • Maintain cleanliness of truck cab
  • Enter/exit the truck multiple times per day
  • Climb to hook/unhook containers, move items to smooth the load and secure tarps
  • Professionally interact with internal and external customers, and work with dispatch on additional work orders to ensure quality customer service
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibility
  • This position will not manage employees
Skills & Abilities Needed For Position
  • Ability to read and understand a map and/or navigation system
  • Excellent truck driving/maneuvering skills
  • Ability to drive manual transmission is preferred
  • General knowledge of the truck mechanics
  • Good written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers
  • Must be able to read and speak the English language well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training
Experience & Knowledge Needed For Position
  • 1-2 years CDL truck driving experience preferred
  • Waste industry experience, a plus
Physical Requirements In a Regular Workday
  • Frequently lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 50 lbs
  • Occasionally lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 100 lbs
  • Continuously working outside in changing temperatures, wet/humid conditions
  • Continuously working in areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matter
  • Frequently stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling
  • Frequently climbing and/or balancing
  • Frequently sitting/standing/walking
Additional Working Conditions/Aspects
  • Must have at least a valid Class B CDL
  • Must have a valid DOT Medical Card or able to obtain prior to hire
  • Must be at least 19 years of age
  • No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years
  • Must not have any DUI's or OVI's within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 years
  • Possible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas
  • Exposure to residential and commercial waste
  • Ability to travel between offices, as required
  • Ability to work flexible hours; expected to work nights and weekends as needed
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States
  • Valid driver’s license (if applicable)
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment testing
  • Must be able to read and speak the English language
