Job summary

GEOMET Recycling is seeking a Roll-off driver to safely operate roll-off trucks, transporting scrap material from local customers and yards. The role emphasizes daily customer interaction, adherence to safety protocols, and contributing to efficient scrap metal collection and processing.

The ideal candidate has a High School diploma or GED, 1–2 years of commercial driving experience, and an active Class A CDL.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–2 years of commercial driving experience preferred (roll-off/dump truck a plus).
• Must maintain Active Class A CDL license.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate company vehicle for delivery and pickup of scrap material.
• Complete daily pre-shift/pre-trip inspections and report issues.
• Provide outstanding customer service during delivery and pickup.
• Maintain DOT and OSHA certifications and safety programs.
• Communicate with dispatch and yard personnel regarding schedules and delays.
• Stage trailers at docks as directed by the scale operator.
• Assist with inventory of trailers and track loaded vs empty.
• Comply with federal, state, and local transportation regulations.
• Perform other projects/tasks as assigned.

Summary/Objective

The Roll-off driver is primarily responsible for safely operating roll-off trucks to transport scrap material from local customers, scrap yards, and designated drop-off points as assigned. This role involves daily interaction with customers, adherence to safety protocols, and contributing to the overall efficiency of scrap metal collection and processing operations.

Essential Functions

• Operate company owned vehicle for the delivery and pick-up of scrap material.
• Completes daily pre-shift/pre-trip inspection of truck reporting any issues promptly.
• Provides outstanding customer service during delivery and pickup operations representing the company in a positive manner.
• Maintains all required certifications required by DOT and OSHA and company safety programs.
• Communicate with dispatch and yard personnel regarding schedules, delays, or issues.
• Stages trailers at docks as directed by scale operator as needed.
• Assists with inventory of trailers at end of each business day detailing loaded or empty as needed.
• Comply with all federal, state, and local transportation regulations.
• Performs other projects/tasks as assigned.

Required Education And Experience

Position Type/Expected Hours Of Work

• This is a full-time position and work days are Monday through Friday.
• Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
