Job summary

CDOT in Rockwood, Colorado is seeking a Highway Maintenance Specialist. Must hold a CDL Class A or B and be prepared for on-call and rotating weather emergencies.

The role involves snow plowing, heavy equipment operation, and road maintenance to keep Colorado roadways safe. Position offers a total annual compensation of $59,940 (base $53,940 plus $6,000 housing stipend) with a $2,074.62 biweekly base pay and potential $500 monthly housing stipend.

Qualifications

• Must have at least two (2) years of physical labor and/or heavy equipment operation experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License Class A or B with no restriction on air brakes.
• Willing to respond to emergencies outside regular hours and work overtime.
• Able to work at elevations up to 12,000 feet.
• May need to relocate or live within 30 minutes to respond to emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Plowing snow
• Operating heavy equipment such as tandem dump trucks, loaders, and tractors
• Mowing grass and weeds
• Removing debris from roadways and culverts
• Installing and repairing guardrails, signs, and lighting
• Filling potholes and roadway cracks
• Setting out traffic control signs and cones
• Maintaining equipment and performing minor repairs
