Job summary

State-of-South-Carolina is seeking a field employee to operate herbicide application equipment along district roads and bridges. You will collect and enter data into HMMS, perform quality checks, and assist in safety and hazard analyses.

Responsibilities include setting up traffic control, conducting CDL pre-trip inspections, and contributing to maintenance and emergency response tasks. The role requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a Class A CDL within six months.

Qualifications

• One year of related work experience or equivalent.
• Must obtain a Class A CDL within six months of placement.

Responsibilities

• Operate herbicide application equipment and herbicide trucks per IRVM plan.
• Record data in HMMS and provide to Crew Leader/Foreman for operation of equipment.
• Perform quality control checks on data and reports.
• Contribute to safety by assisting in job hazard analyses and safety meetings.
• Set up traffic control devices and work zones per manual guidelines.
• Complete CDL pre-trip inspections before operating CDL vehicles.
• Assist in gathering data for daily, weekly, and monthly reports, time sheets, and cost records.
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance and assist in emergencies removing fallen trees, snow, and ice.
• Assist in other related duties as assigned.
