Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation seeks a road maintenance worker to operate herbicide application equipment and trucks under the Integrated Roadside Vegetation Management plan, ensuring data accuracy for HMMS and contributing to safety and reporting in District 6.

The role requires one year of related experience or equivalence, a valid driver's license, and the potential to obtain a Class A CDL within six months.

Qualifications

• 1 year of related work experience or equivalent
• Valid motor vehicle operator’s license required
• Must obtain a Class A CDL within 6 months of placement

Responsibilities

• Operate herbicide application equipment and herbicide truck per IRVM plan along roads and bridges
• Provide data for HMMS and assist in reports
• Perform safety checks and participate in safety meetings
• Place traffic control devices and set up work zones per guidelines
• Complete CDL pre-trip inspections for CDL vehicles
• Gather data for daily, weekly, monthly reports and cost records
• Assist in maintenance, emergencies, and other duties as assigned
