Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a Trimmer Trainee / Tree Grounds Person-Helper in Baltimore, MD. This on-site role offers hands-on training on pruning, tree removal, and safety procedures as you progress with the crew.

Pay ranges from $22 to $28 per hour, depending on experience, with benefits including PTO, holidays, 401(k), and employee stock plans. CDL is required for entrance, and we provide the orientation and safety training needed to grow with the company.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors
• Preferred: Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law

Responsibilities

• Learn to climb trees and work as a member of a tree crew
• Learn to perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully
• Prune, thin, and remove deadwood throughout the tree canopy
• Learn how to install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems
• Assist in removal of hazardous trees
• Maintain and operate tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts
