Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company in Charlotte, NC is hiring a climbing arborist trainee to join our tree care team. You will learn climbing, pruning, and removal techniques on a full-time, on-site basis in a dynamic outdoor environment.

You will complete safety and certification courses (First Aid/CPR, defensive driving) and progress through the arborist skill set under expert supervision. We offer comprehensive benefits and career growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide licenses and certificates, if required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Learn to climb trees and operate as a member of a tree crew.
• Progressively learn new skills.
• Perform pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients.
• Identify trees and follow pruning guidelines.
• Prune, thin, and remove deadwood throughout the tree canopy.
• Learn to install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
• Assist in removal of hazardous trees.
• Maintain and operate tools and equipment.
• Growth potential depends on personal effort.
