The City of Norfolk, Virginia through its Public Works Department is seeking a Refuse Collector I for the Waste Management Division. This position collects waste from residential properties on an assigned route and operates an automated truck, while performing routine vehicle checks and maintenance.

Eligible candidates will have at least a high school equivalency or less, up to six months of refuse collection or commercial driving experience, and a valid CDL driver's license.

Competenze

• Ability to read and understand written instructions.
• Six months refuse collection or commercial driving experience preferred.
• Must pass all entry level testing and assessments.
• Valid CDL Driver's License.

Mansioni

• Collect waste from residential properties using an automated truck.
• Maintain and monitor the truck; fuel, wash, and inspect systems.
• Conduct CDL pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Explain refuse collection codes and procedures to residents.
