Job summary

Qualifications

• Valid New York State Class B commercial driver’s license required.
• Safe driving record is mandatory.
• Experience operating heavy trucks or municipal equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate CDL-required garbage trucks and other municipal equipment.
• Perform residential and/or commercial refuse collection along routes.
• Collect, load, transport and dispose of municipal refuse.
• Assist with bulky item pickups and other refuse services as assigned.
• Inspect vehicles daily and report mechanical or safety concerns.
• Maintain vehicles and equipment in safe, clean condition.
• Follow collection routes, schedules, and safety procedures.
• Respond to changing collection needs and priorities.
• Perform snow removal, hauling, and other department duties as assigned.
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions year-round.
• Interact professionally with residents and the public.
• Work as part of a team providing essential city services.
