Job summary

The City of Auburn Department of Public Works is seeking a dependable Motor Equipment Operator (MEO) to join our team. You will operate trucks, loaders, backhoes, and other municipal equipment, including snow removal and street maintenance tasks.

We value safety, reliability, and teamwork as you support public services. Residency within 35 miles of Auburn is required, with potential for overtime and emergency assignments as needed.

Qualifications

• Valid New York State Commercial Drivers License (CDL) is required.
• Safe driving record is required.
• Experience operating heavy trucks, construction equipment, or municipal equipment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of trucks, heavy equipment, and municipal machinery as assigned.
• Perform snow and ice removal operations with plow trucks, loaders, and other equipment.
• Perform street and roadway maintenance including pothole repair and patching.
• Assist with maintenance of streets, sidewalks, drainage systems, and other infrastructure.
• Perform excavation, hauling, loading, and site preparation work.
• Assist with maintenance of parks, buildings, facilities, and other municipal properties.
• Perform seasonal work including mowing, landscaping, and cleanup.
• Install, maintain, and repair signs, barricades, and traffic control devices.
