Qualifications

  • Successful completion of pre-employment DOT drug screen, physical, and background check.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects up to 50+ pounds.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and ability to interact effectively with the public.
  • General knowledge of truck mechanics.

Responsibilities

  • Operates vehicle in accordance with OSHA and DOT requirements and company expectations.
  • Performs pre- and post-trip inspections using DVIR; notes issues for repair.
  • Reports unsafe situations or service issues to Operations Manager or Dispatch.
  • Cooperates in training and meetings; collaborates to improve route efficiency.
  • Notifies Operations Manager of incidents, blockages, or missed pickups.
  • Completes and submits customer tickets when excess yardage must be removed.
  • Positions containers properly on customer property and ensures clean work area.
  • Follows route assignments and completes end-of-route documentation.

Job Description

As a Trash Truck Driver, you will be responsible for operating a garbage truck, ensuring timely and efficient collection of waste and recycling materials from residential and commercial properties. You will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of our community.


Essential Functions:


  • Operates vehicle in accordance with Occupational and Safety Health Act (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements as well as all local, state and federal requirements and Company expectations for the fleet; maintains a clean and safe vehicle.

  • Performs pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle using utilizing standard DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report); notes all issues on DVIR form for corrective review/repair.

  • Immediately reports any unsafe situations or service calls to Operations Manager or Dispatch before attempting service.

  • Participates and cooperates in all scheduled training, briefings, and meetings as required by Operations Manager.

  • Works closely with Operations Manager to improve route efficiencies and identify problem or unsafe accounts.

  • Performs all duties as scheduled by Operations Manager or Dispatch, assisting other company drivers as directed.

  • Notifies Operations Manager of any incidents, accidents, injures, or property damage.

  • Notifies Dispatch or Operations Manager of issues, including blocked containers, potential missed pick-ups or problems that arise on the route.

  • Communicates customer requests or issues to Dispatch or Operations Manager.

  • Completely dumps all containers and leaves the customer’s location clean and free of debris.

  • Completes and submits customer tickets when excess yardage must be removed.

  • Positions containers on the customer’s property in a manner that ensures lids are properly replaced, containers are set in an upright position, and containers do not block driveway entrances or traffic.

  • Follows route assignments throughout the day and completes all documentation when checking-in at the end of the route.


Qualifications:


  • Must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record.

  • Must possess a valid DOT Medical Card

  • Previous experience as a truck driver, especially in waste industry, is preferred but not required.

  • Successfully complete pre-employment DOT drug screen, physical, and background check, which will include previous employment check, and motor vehicle record review

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks.

  • Strong verbal communication skills and ability to interact effectively with the public.

  • Have excellent truck driving and maneuvering skills

  • Keen attention to detail and ability to follow instructions and safety protocols.

  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.

  • Have a general knowledge of truck mechanics


Physical Requirements:


  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50+ pounds.

  • Stamina to work long hours on your feet and in various weather conditions.

  • Capability to perform repetitive tasks and maintain focus throughout the shift.

  • This position involves working outdoors in various weather conditions.

  • The role requires regular physical activity, including lifting, bending, and climbing.

  • Typical shifts may start early in the morning and may include weekends or holidays as needed.
