Job summary

GFL Environmental Services is seeking a tractor-trailer driver to transport non-hazardous and hazardous liquids (with proper licensing) to customer locations. Most CDL drivers have daily routes and are home nightly, with overtime as required and a rotating on-call schedule.

Qualifications

• Valid CDL Class A with tanker endorsement.
• Hazmat endorsement optional.
• Clean driving record.

• Proficiency with paperwork like invoices and bills of lading.

Responsibilities

• Operate a CMV according to DOT regulations.
• Follow assigned route while obeying traffic laws and safety rules.
• Maneuver CMV into loading/unloading areas.
• Assist with loading/unloading when required and return equipment to designated area.
• Maintain invoices and bills of lading; deliver to dispatch after completing tasks.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections; report maintenance issues.

Job description

The tractor-trailer driver will safely and efficiently drive a tanker, straight-truck, box truck, or other appropriate vehicle to transport non-hazardous and hazardous (with proper licensing) liquid waste water to various customer locations in a timely and professional manner.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) according to DOT regulations
• Utilize assigned route while obeying all traffic laws and safety regulations
• Maneuver CMV into loading and unloading areas
• Assist with loading and unloading of products, using specialized equipment when warranted, and returns all equipment to designated area
• Maintain signed invoices, bills of lading, and other required paperwork; deliver documentation to dispatch when work orders are complete
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections and reports maintenance malfunctions to the fleetmanager and dispatch
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Valid Commercial Driver's License Class A and tanker endorsement
• Option to obtain hazmat endorsement
• Clean driving record
• Must pass criminal background screening and pre-employment drug screen
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to interact with customers
• Ability to handle prolonged periods of sitting in a cab
• Ability to remain focused in busy environments
• Must be able to lift and move up to 40 pounds

Work Environment

• Overtime as required, occasional weekends and holidays
• Rotating On-Call
• Most CDL drivers have daily routes and are home nightly
