Job summary

Miller Pipeline in Johnson City, TN is seeking an Equipment Operator to join our team. You will perform excavation-related tasks, operate heavy equipment, and help install underground cables and conduit while ensuring safety and quality.

The role requires apprenticeship completion or 3+ years of experience, a high school diploma, and the ability to pass local operator qualifications testing. We offer growth opportunities and competitive wages in a team-based environment.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of an operator's apprentice program and/or 3+ years of equivalent experience operating heavy equipment.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must pass computer-based testing, specific to the local Customer’s operator qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Digging, filling, back-filling, grading or other excavation work including trenches, pits or tunnels.
• Distinguishes between properties, types and moisture content of soils.
• Installation of underground cable and conduit as well as overhead cable.
• Fasten attachments to tractor with clevis or wedge pin hitches.
• Connect hydraulic hoses, belts, mechanical linkage, or power takeoff shaft to tractor to provide power to raise, lower, or tilt attachments.
• Move levers and depress pedals to maneuver tractor and raise, lower, and tilt attachment to clear right-of-way.
• Assess the area to determine if the utilities were properly located prior to performing the underground work.
• Review the terrain to determine the best method to perform the job.
• Operate vehicles for hauling.
