Qualifications

• Associate Degree or higher in diesel mechanics or related field.
• Knowledge of FMCSA regulations and ELDT requirements.
• Knowledge of the Commercial Trucking industry.
• Some experience with basic fleet maintenance and/or diesel mechanics.
• Active NC Class A CDL or ability to secure that license within one year of hiring.
• Ability to maintain an organized filing system related to student records, program data, and oversight.

Responsibilities

• Teaches Commercial Transportation classes, incl. CDL driver training and diesel mechanic courses.
• Maintains a flexible, full-time schedule including weekend coverage.
• Maintains accurate registration, attendance, payroll, and course records.
• Tracks attendance, student progress, skills assessments, and ELDT documentation; verifies FMCSA/NCDMV requirements.
• Maintains standardized records for CDL, Hazmat, Passenger, Forklift, Fleet Maintenance courses; secure format.
• Prepares and updates course syllabi; implement curriculum revisions as needed.
• Sets up and manages courses in Canvas LMS; backup for online instruction.
• Develops and maintains course scheduling, including road trips and coverage.
• Creates safe learning environment and protects FERPA data; fosters professional conduct.
• Submits reports and fulfills contract provisions.
