Job summary

Goodwill Central Texas in Austin, TX seeks a Logistics Trainer to conduct road testing for CDL and non-CDL driver applicants and to train current drivers as needed. The role includes performing driving duties within the Transportation Department and maintaining safety and compliance.

Responsibilities include onboarding support, regular training with the Safety Team, and meticulous paperwork. The position requires strong communication, teamwork, and a proactive safety mindset.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must possess a valid Texas Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with an acceptable driving record.
• Must possess a valid Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Examiner's Certificate.
• Must be able to pass all applicable DOT physical and drug screening requirements.
• Minimum of 2 years of commercial driving experience operating tractor-trailers or equivalent commercial vehicles.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations, Hours of Service (HOS) requirements, and driver safety practices.
• Ability to effectively communicate, read, write, and understand English.
• Ability to accurately complete required reports, driver logs, manifests, and inspection documentation.
• Basic computer skills and ability to use electronic logging devices (ELDs), telematics systems, and fleet management software.
• Ability to conduct training, coaching, and performance evaluations for new and existing drivers.

Responsibilities

• Conduct road testing for driver applicants and assist in the onboarding process.
• Conduct individual and group training for current drivers as instructed by Logistics Manager.
• Collaborate with Safety Team and Logistics Manager to provide regular training and instruction for drivers including post-incident corrective training.
• Neatly and accurately complete required paperwork including manifest, vehicle inspection report, driver logs, donation count sheets, and truck seals.
• Accurately report incidents and accidents to supervisor.
• Perform operator-level maintenance on assigned equipment including daily checks for fuel, oil, lubricants, water, antifreeze, and vehicle condition.
• Present neat and professional Goodwill Central Texas image to customers, stores, and the public.
• Attend all scheduled meetings and meet attendance/punctuality requirements.
• Load and unload trailers by-hand/pallet jack.
• Assist in material handling duties in warehouse as needed between pickups and drop-offs.
