Job summary

Action Environmental in Pasadena, TX seeks an experienced trainer to educate drivers and contractors on safe transport of hazardous chemicals, waste, and other materials. You will lead onboarding, deliver standard lesson plans, and evaluate trainee performance, while ensuring compliance with safety programs and DOT rules.

The role requires a Class A CDL with tank and hazmat endorsements, at least five years driving experience with chemical/tank operations, and prior training experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required; some college is preferred.
• Minimum one year of trainer experience in business, academic, or technical settings.
• At least five years as a commercial truck driver with chemical tank and vacuum tank experience; roll off and end dump is a plus.
• Valid Class A CDL with tank and hazmat endorsements is required.
• Hazmat and hazardous waste experience is mandatory; DOT medical card must be current.
• Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing; MS Word/Excel/Outlook proficiency expected.

Responsibilities

• Teach academic and technical content to prepare students to safely transport chemicals and other materials.
• Lead onboarding training for new drivers and independent contractors during orientation.
• Deliver prescribed lesson plans and instructional materials; assess student progress.
• Evaluate driver proficiency and document training events in driver files.
• Prepare reports and manage classroom and training range logistics.
• Coordinate with departments on student progress and assignments; manage PPE distribution.
