Job summary

Carvana is seeking a Driver Trainer (and Coach) to lead the onboarding of Vehicle Transporters, ensuring proficiency in Carvana policies, safe loading, and efficient operations. The role combines classroom and hands-on training with ongoing education and evaluations of drivers.

You will collaborate with multiple Logistics Managers to ensure a smooth transition from training to on-the-job, while upholding Carvana's safety standards. Travel ~50% is required.

Qualifications

• CDL Class A license required or in process
• Clean driving record and ability to obtain DOT Medical card
• Experience in training or coaching adults is preferred
• Experience with vehicle loading, transport or logistics is a plus
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask and manage priorities while working in a fast-paced environment
• Willingness to travel ~50% of work time
• Smith Systems training and/or certification preferred or willing to be certified
• 21+ years old
• Ability to speak, read and write English

Responsibilities

• Provide a world-class onboarding experience to new Vehicle Transporters at Carvana
• Lead as primary trainer for a 2-week training period on trailer operations and logistics equipment
• Teach safe vehicle loading onto a 9-car hauler and prevent vehicle damage
• Conduct classroom and hands-on training sessions
• Coach, mentor and provide feedback to new hires
• Use a skills matrix and evaluation checklists to assess progress
• Collaborate with Logistics Managers to transition trainees to on-the-job roles
• Support other projects as needed
• Travel up to 50% of the time as required by business needs
