Job summary

Rumpke Waste & Recycling is hiring a Driver Trainee to train alongside drivers and progress to a CDL driver role. You'll assist with servicing routes, learn route management, and gain hands-on experience handling waste and recycling collections.

Responsibilities include classroom and field training to obtain a CDL, strictly following safety rules, and interacting professionally with customers. The role requires flexibility, ability to work nights/weekends, and valid driver's license eligibility.

Qualifications

• Must obtain DOT medical card within 10 days of employment.
• Must obtain class B CDL permit within 60 days of employment.
• Must obtain a class B CDL within 90 days of employment.
• Must be at least 19 years of age.
• No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years; no DUI/OUI in the last 5 years and no more than 2 in the last 10 years.

Responsibilities

• Attend classroom and field training to obtain the CDL.
• Assist as a helper during training to complete daily routes as needed.
• Enter/exit a truck 300-600 times per day to service assigned route.
• Operate a truck in a safe manner in compliance with regulations and company policies.
• Assist with providing waste or recycling removal services to customers on route(s).
• Assist with cleaning up waste spills and overflows.
• Learn how to maintain and update route sheets/logs and assist trainer with this function.
• Learn how to conduct pre-trip/post trip inspections and complete logs with trainer assistance.
• Interact professionally with internal and external customers.
• Maintain cleanliness of assigned truck.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
