Job summary

Rumpke Waste and Recycling in Louisville, KY is seeking a Driver Trainee to join our team and learn the CDL driving role. You will train alongside drivers and assist with servicing routes, hauling waste or recycling materials to disposal sites, and learning to operate trucks safely under company policies.

You will engage in classroom and on‑the‑job training to obtain a CDL, while developing strong customer service skills and adherence to safety procedures in a dynamic outdoor environment.

Qualifications

• Must obtain DOT medical card within 10 days of employment.
• Must obtain Class B CDL permit within 60 days of employment.
• Must obtain Class B CDL within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Attend classroom and field training to obtain CDL license.
• Assist as a helper during training to complete daily routes.
• Enter/exit the truck 300-600 times per day to service routes.
• Operate a truck safely in compliance with regulations and company policies.
• Assist with waste or recycling removal and hauling to disposal sites.
• Maintain route sheets/logs and assist the trainer with this function.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and document logs.
• Interact professionally with internal and external customers.
