Responsibilities

• Source, recruit, and onboard company drivers and owner-operators.
• Conduct phone screenings, interviews, and participate in hiring decisions.
• Develop and execute recruiting strategies using Indeed, job boards, social media, and referrals.
• Promote Sun Transportation Systems USA to attract high-quality drivers.
• Run new driver orientation and onboarding processes.
• Perform road tests and OTR evaluations when required.
• Train drivers on company policies, safety expectations, and ELD usage.
• Support new hires during onboarding and transition to dispatch.
• Ensure compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations.
• Maintain accurate driver qualification files.
• Monitor driver performance using ELD systems, with Samsara preferred.
• Coordinate with dispatch and planning teams to forecast hiring needs.
• Develop driver retention programs and engagement strategies.
• Track recruiting and operations KPIs including cost per hire, time to hire, and turnover rate.
• Address driver concerns to improve satisfaction and retention.

Sun Transportation Systems USA is seeking a CDL Driver Recruiter to help grow and staff a nationwide fleet. This role blends full-cycle recruiting with driver onboarding, training support, and ongoing attention to DOT and FMCSA compliance, while partnering with operations to improve driver retention and performance.

Role Summary

The CDL Driver Recruiter will source and hire company drivers and owner-operators, manage onboarding activities, and support training and evaluation processes as needed. The position also focuses on compliance documentation, monitoring driver performance through ELD systems, and using recruiting and retention programs guided by KPIs.

Key Responsibilities

• Source, recruit, and onboard company drivers and owner-operators
• Conduct phone screenings, interviews, and participate in hiring decisions
• Develop and execute recruiting strategies using Indeed, job boards, social media, and referrals
• Promote STS to attract high-quality drivers
• Run new driver orientation and onboarding processes
• Perform road tests and OTR evaluations when required
• Train drivers on company policies, safety expectations, and ELD usage
• Support new hires during onboarding and transition to dispatch
• Ensure compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations
• Maintain accurate driver qualification files
• Monitor driver performance using ELD systems, with Samsara preferred

Required Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience in driver recruiting OR experience in the trucking industry
• Strong knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience as a CDL driver or driver trainer
• Experience with Samsara ELD
• Experience conducting road tests or OTR evaluations
• Class A CDL (not required, but highly preferred)
