Lewis Tree Service is seeking a Trimmer Trainee in Massachusetts to join a people-first, employee-owned team. You will support tree crews with pruning, vegetation management, and equipment preparation while learning to operate lifts and maintain safety standards.

This role offers paid training, pathways to advancement, and frontline exposure to outdoor work with competitive hourly pay and strong safety culture.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months of experience on tree crews as Groundperson or Driver.
• Willingness to work at heights and learn aerial lift techniques.
• Understand basic tree identification and vegetation practices.
• Certifications for Trimmer Trainee or ability to obtain.
• Valid license (CDL may be required) and medical certification as needed.
• CPR and First Aid certified (provided by Lewis).

Responsabilités

• Assist with ground-level vegetation management around power lines.
• Prune and lift logs, using aerial lifts under supervision.
• Support site prep, equipment setup, and jobsite cleanup.
• Operate chainsaws, chippers, sprayers, and ropes.
• Assist with rigging and felling of trees.
• Apply herbicides with proper certification.
• Load/unload trucks and navigate challenging terrain.
• Assist with traffic control and jobsite safety.
• Attend daily briefings and safety meetings.
• Travel to multiple worksites, including occasional overnight stays.
• Learn and follow safety, environmental, and operational procedures.
• Drive and operate trucks with certifications as assigned.
