Job summary

Barnard Construction Company, Inc. is seeking an experienced CDL Class A Lowboy Driver to transport heavy construction equipment to job sites across North America.

The role requires adherence to DOT regulations and safe loading/unloading practices while traveling to multiple sites. Based in Deming, NM, the driver will handle excavators, bulldozers, loaders and similar machinery, perform daily vehicle inspections, and maintain logs.

Qualifications

• Must have valid CDL Class A and a satisfactory driving record.
• Experience hauling equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, skid steers, graders, rollers.
• Familiarity with DOT regulations and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen.
• Exert heavy physical effort and handle objects up to 25 pounds.
• Kneel, stoop, crouch, balance, climb or crawl as needed.
• Rig and hoist material safely.
• Tolerate heights and maintain balance.
• Enter vehicle cabs 3 feet or more above ground.
• Stand or walk for long periods and work in extreme weather.
• Work long, irregular hours (50–70 per week).
• Maintain regular, punctual attendance as per standards.

• Must possess competence in the following areas in order to perform this role in a safe, productive and effective manner:
• Must have a valid CDL and satisfactory driving record
• We are looking for an experienced CDL Class A Lowboy Driver to transport heavy construction
• The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience hauling equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, skid steers, graders, rollers, and other heavy machinery and understands proper loading and securement procedures.
• Familiarity with DOT regulations.
• Inspect loads for safety.
• Maintain logs of working hours and vehicle service hours and follow applicable state and federal regulations.
• Operate equipment in an efficient manner and follow instruction of on site management.
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, or damage to the vehicle.
• Responsible for daily inspections of truck to ensure the truck is in proper and safe working order.
• Responsible for notifying supervisor if truck needs to be repaired.
• Understands safety and occupational hazards of work.

Responsibilities

• Ability to correctly rig and hoist material.
• Ability to tolerate heights without fear.

• Able to enter the cab of a vehicle or piece of equipment that is 3 feet or more off the ground.
• Ability to stand or walk for long periods of time, reach for, handle, and manipulate items and to work in extreme weather conditions (cold and wet).
• Able to work long, irregular and varied hours, 50 to 70 hours per week.
• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
• Ability to safely and effectively perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal , state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
