Job summary

Barnard Construction Company, Inc. is seeking a CDL Class A Lowboy Driver to transport heavy construction equipment to projects across North America. The role requires safe operation, adherence to DOT regulations, and thorough loading/securement of loads.

Based in or servicing Deming, NM area, the driver will work with a team on demanding civil projects, with long hours and a focus on safety and reliability. Opportunity to contribute to complex, high-risk infrastructure work.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid CDL and satisfactory driving record.
• Experienced CDL Class A Lowboy Driver to transport heavy construction equipment.
• Hands-on experience hauling equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, skid steers, graders, rollers, and other heavy machinery with proper loading and securement.

Responsibilities

• Pass background check and pre-employment drug screen.
• Transport heavy construction equipment between sites and projects.
• Inspect loads for safety and ensure proper loading and securing.
• Maintain logs of driving hours and vehicle service hours; follow DOT regulations.
• Notify supervisor of any truck repairs or safety concerns.
• Operate vehicle safely and follow site management instructions.

• Must have a valid CDL and satisfactory driving record

• The ideal candidate has hands-on experience hauling equipment such asexcavators, bulldozers, loaders, skid steers, graders, rollers, and other heavy machineryand understands proper loading and securement procedures.
• Familiarity with DOT regulations.
• Inspect loads for safety.
• Maintain logs of working hours and vehicle service hours and follow applicable state and federal regulations.
• Operate equipment in an efficient manner and follow instruction of on site management.
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, or damage to the vehicle.
• Responsible for daily inspections of truck to ensure the truck is in proper and safe working order.
• Responsible for notifying supervisor if truck needs to be repaired.
• Understands safety and occupational hazards of work.

• Able to enter the cab of a vehicle or piece of equipment that is 3 feet or more off the ground.
• Ability to stand or walk for long periods of time, reach for, handle, and manipulate items and to work in extreme weather conditions (cold and wet).
• Able to work long, irregular and varied hours, 50 to 70 hours per week.
• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
• Ability to safely and effectively perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal , state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
