Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Transportation is seeking a Driver License Examiner w/CDL at the Hazelton Driver Licensing Center to support testing and customer needs, ensuring licensing processes run smoothly and highway safety.

You will evaluate driving readiness, review documents, administer vision and tests, issue licenses, and maintain records using department systems; typical hours Tue–Sat 8:15 AM to 4:45 PM with a 30-minute lunch. Telework is not available.

Qualifications

• One year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration).
• Two years of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public.

Responsibilities

• Applicant Evaluation: Assess driving ability, physical qualifications, and vehicle safety conditions
• Vision Testing: Administer telebinocular, color perception, and other required vision tests
• Skills Testing: Conduct knowledge, pre-trip, maneuverability, and road tests for commercial and non-commercial applicants
• Document Review: Examine identity and residency documents to confirm authenticity and detect fraud
• Customer Processing: Issue licenses and identification cards and provide guidance on renewals, transfers, and credentials
• System Verification: Use department systems to authenticate identity documents and maintain accurate records
