The CDL Driver I delivers materials to job site, inspects and maintains truck, reports shortages and claims to supervisor and assists in loading and storing of materials. Typically, driving a truck with a capacity of more than three tons, but may be a less experienced CDL or tractor trailer driver.

Pay Rate: $25.00 per hour

What you will do

  1. Operate safely.
  2. Participate in a positive work environment.
  3. Maintain a current Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License as required.
  4. Prepare DOT required log of time on duty and driving.
  5. Organize and secure load.
  6. Assist forklift operators when loading.
  7. Check orders for accuracy.
  8. Deliver and unload materials to customers’ satisfaction.
  9. Complete daily equipment pre-inspection.
  10. Record all merchandise that is returned by truck, assist in unloading material returned for credit.
  11. Follow guidelines established by the Department of Transportation.
  12. Provide excellent customer service.
  13. Relay messages sent by customers while on job.
  14. Assist supervisor, other employees and other work areas, as assigned.
  15. Assist in maintaining good housekeeping in yard and warehouse.
  16. Comply with all company policies and guidelines.
  17. Operate truck mounted forklift safely and efficiently.
  18. Maintain cleanliness of truck.
  19. Participate in and complete assigned trainings.

Education Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience Qualifications

  1. CDL experience preferred.
  2. Basic CDL experience with flat beds and/or tractor trailers required.
  3. 1-3 years CDL experience required for interstate commerce.

Skills and Abilities

  1. Ability to do basic math, read orders, write instructions and complete forms.
  2. Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with customers, other employees and supervisors using verbal and written skills.
  3. Ability to deal constructively with conflict and recognize potential problems.
  4. Maintain current operator’s license and meet company driver qualification requirements.
  5. Knowledge and ability to use safe lifting techniques.
  6. Proficiency with or ability to learn current technologies (e.g. Smartphone, GPS and other necessary business applications).

Licenses and Certifications

  1. Class A CDL License required.
  2. Class B CDL License required.
