Founded in 1946 by R.L. Brand and Cy Vaughan, Brand Vaughan serves professional builders and contractors in the Atlanta, Buford, Columbus, Madison, Athens, and Lake Oconee areas of Georgia from eight locations in the state.

The CDL Driver I delivers materials to job sites, inspects and maintains trucks, reports shortages and claims to supervisors, and assists in loading and storing materials. Typically, this role involves driving a truck with a capacity of more than three tons, but may also be suitable for a less experienced CDL or tractor trailer driver. What you will do:

  1. Operate vehicles safely.
  2. Participate in a positive work environment.
  3. Maintain a current Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License as required.
  4. Prepare DOT-required logs of time on duty and driving.
  5. Organize and secure loads.
  6. Assist forklift operators when loading.
  7. Check orders for accuracy.
  8. Deliver and unload materials to customer satisfaction.
  9. Complete daily equipment pre-inspections.
  10. Record all merchandise returned by truck and assist in unloading returned materials for credit.
  11. Follow guidelines established by the Department of Transportation.
  12. Provide excellent customer service.
  13. Relay messages sent by customers while on the job.
  14. Assist supervisors, other employees, and other work areas as assigned.
  15. Maintain good housekeeping in yard and warehouse.
  16. Comply with all company policies and guidelines.
  17. Operate truck-mounted forklift safely and efficiently.
  18. Maintain cleanliness of the truck.
  19. Participate in and complete assigned training.
  20. Perform other duties as assigned.
  21. Adhere to the company’s commitment to workplace safety.

Education Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience Qualifications:

  • Basic CDL experience with flatbeds and/or tractor trailers required.
  • 1-3 years of CDL experience required for interstate commerce.
  • CDL experience preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to do basic math, read orders, write instructions, and complete forms.
  • Effective communication skills with customers, employees, and supervisors.
  • Ability to handle conflict constructively and recognize potential problems.
  • Maintain current operator’s license and meet driver qualification requirements.
  • Knowledge of safe lifting techniques.
  • Proficiency with or ability to learn current technologies (smartphone, GPS, etc.).

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Class A CDL License required.
  • Class B CDL License required.
