Job Details

Location: Sarasota, FL 34240. Position Type: Full Time Temporary. Salary Range: $19.00 - $28.00 hourly. Job Category: Operational/ERD. Job Title: CDL Driver (Hauling – Debris & Equipment). Reports to: Field Supervisor / Project Manager. Compensation Range: $19-$28 hourly (depending on location, experience, skills, and qualifications).

Position Summary

We are seeking a CDL Class A Driver to support hauling operations for debris removal and equipment transport during disaster response and environmental projects. This role is responsible for safely transporting storm-related debris, materials, and heavy equipment between job sites, staging areas, and disposal locations. It does not typically involve personnel management but focuses on safe driving, timely hauling, and supporting overall project productivity in fast‑paced environments.

Responsibilities
  • Transport debris, materials, and heavy equipment between project sites, staging areas, and disposal facilities.
  • Operate tractor‑trailers and hauling equipment in on‑road and off‑road conditions.
  • Load, secure, and unload debris and equipment in compliance with safety standards.
  • Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance.
  • Maintain accurate driver logs, load tickets, and required documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and company safety policies.
  • Coordinate with field teams, dispatch, and supervisors to meet project timelines.
  • Monitor vehicle performance and report maintenance or repair needs.
  • Adapt to changing routes, schedules, and project demands.
  • Assist with general site operations or support tasks when needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Valid CDL Class A license.
  • At least 2 years of commercial driving experience hauling materials, debris, or equipment.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and safety compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to properly secure loads and operate safely in dynamic job site environments.
  • Ability to work in outdoor and physically demanding conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience hauling heavy equipment or oversized loads.
  • Experience in construction, logistics, or disaster recovery operations.
  • OSHA certification (10‑hour or 30‑hour).
  • Familiarity with job site coordination and heavy equipment operations.
Physical Requirements and Environment
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Willingness to wear PPE, including hard hats, protective eyewear, steel‑toed boots, and high‑visibility gear.
  • Ability to work in adverse weather and field conditions, including extreme temperatures, dust, noise, and uneven terrain.
  • Ability to climb, secure loads, and operate trucks and trailers for extended periods.
  • Commitment to following safety standards and protocols.
