Pay: $31.37/hour
Front-End Drivers operate front-end trucks providing services to multi-family residential and commercial routes, removing and transporting waste or recyclables to fulfill customer contracts. They service multiple customers daily according to assigned routes, transferring waste to the appropriate station, landfill, or drop-off location.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive commercial frontload or ancillary equipment along designated routes to collect solid waste and deliver to post-collection facilities.
- Open container enclosures or gates to access cans. Roll 3-4-yard cans on castors into position for dumping as needed.
- Perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections; complete and submit vehicle condition reports at the end of shifts.
- Interact courteously with customers and the public, answer questions, respond to requests, and notify supervisors of issues requiring management action.
- Clean up loose trash from trucks and around containers during dumping to maintain cleanliness and safety.
- Maintain and submit logs, route sheets, and vehicle condition reports as required by law or policy.
- Skillfully maneuver trucks into and out of tight spaces using mirrors.
- Use GPS and maps to locate service addresses.
- Follow safe operating practices, including lockout/tagout procedures.
- Monitor for debris during dumping, ensuring safety and cleanliness at customer sites.
- Adhere to all safety standards, equipment checks, and legal requirements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Possess a valid CDL.
- Minimum of one year of commercial truck driving experience or a CDL school certificate.
- Meet safety-sensitive criteria per company standards.
- Demonstrate safe driving and equipment operation skills.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of truck components and basic maintenance.
- Ability to control and maneuver trucks in tight spaces.
- Recognize unacceptable waste.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to read maps and documents.
- Follow oral and written instructions.
- Adaptability and continuous improvement mindset.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly, with occasional lifts up to 100 pounds.
- Coordination of limbs during operation.
- Adherence to safety policies.
Physical/Mental Demands:
- Ability to stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crawl, climb, and balance.
- Visual requirements include various types of vision and focus adjustments.
- Lift/move weights up to 50 pounds regularly, up to 100 pounds occasionally.
- Work in loud, outdoor environments, often in extreme weather and traffic conditions.
Work Conditions:
- Exposure to noise, weather, mechanical parts, chemicals, fumes, and airborne particles.
- Work primarily outdoors, often away from the main location, and in high places and traffic.
