Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs at the Wilmington VA Medical Center seeks a Motor Vehicle Operator to support Facilities Management Service. The role requires operating a range of vehicles and transporting Veterans, staff, and materials on a scheduled basis.

Qualifications

• Selective Placement Factor requires a current and valid CDL Class A or Class B with Passenger and air-brake endorsements.
• Must provide a copy of CDL if interview is requested.

Responsibilities

• Operates gasoline- or diesel-powered vehicles up to 26,000 pounds gross vehicle weight.
• Operates a range of vehicles including dump trucks, box trucks, passenger vans, and buses up to 54,000 pounds GVW.
• Transports materials, equipment, supplies, and personnel as required by the medical center.
• Provides non-emergent, safe transportation for nursing home residents, Veterans, and staff.
• Works with the facility snow removal team during winter months and performs routine vehicle maintenance.
