Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking a professional truck driver to safely transport raw materials and finished goods between customer locations, plants and mills. You will comply with DOT regulations and perform truck inspections while maintaining accurate paperwork.

Responsibilities include loading/unloading, pre/post-trip checks, and operating various trucks and equipment. A clean driving record and the ability to read safety rules are essential for success.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED strongly preferred.
• Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) required.
• Clean driving record with no moving violations.
• Must pass a background check and drug screen.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating procedures, directions and routing assignments.
• Must be willing to operate forklift and pallet jack.

How You Will Impact Smurfit Westrock

• Fully understand how to operate and safely drive your assigned vehicle.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of your assigned vehicle and report any needed repairs to your supervisor.
• Maintain and service vehicle as needed (refuel, check fluids, check tire pressures).
• Efficiently follow assigned daily pickup and drop off schedule.
• Maintain accurate and legible paperwork for daily pickups and drop offs to include customer/ mill, truck and/ or trailer numbers, tare weight, gross weight and grade being transported.
• Ensure contents are secure in or on the truck or trailer prior to transporting.
• Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive according to the weather/ road conditions.
• Assist in the loading or unloading of your truck if required.
• Perform other job duties as needed.
• Make safety a priority at all times.

What You Need To Succeed

• High school diploma or G.E.D. is strongly preferred.
• Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) required.
• Clean driving record with no moving violations.
• Must pass a background check and drug screen.
• Skilled at driving and parking large, heavy vehicles and/ or trailers.
• Alert, focused and detail oriented.
• Physically and mentally fit.
• Must have ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating procedures, directions and routing assignments.
• Must have the ability to operate a forklift and pallet jack.
• Flatbed cargo securement may be required.
• Must be willing to work overtime as needed.
• Must be able to maintain good attendance.
• Must be able to perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
