North American Rail Solutions (NARS) seeks a reliable Class A CDL Driver to transport heavy equipment and materials to and from job sites in the Denver area. You will perform pre-trip and post-trip checks, assist with loading and unloading, and communicate with dispatch to meet daily and weekly goals, while ensuring fuel efficiency

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 3 years of proven Class A driving experience.
  • Valid Class A license and medical card.
  • TWIC may be required.
  • Clean driving record & ability to pass DOT physical and drug test.
  • Ability to operate manual transmission (13 speed).
  • Strong safety focus and regulatory compliance knowledge.
  • Proficient with GPS and routing systems.

Responsibilities

  • Transport heavy equipment and materials to job sites.
  • Secure loads per regulations and ensure proper tie-downs.
  • Drive up to 11 hours per day with a 14-hour max per DOT rules.
  • Operate a Class A truck on flatbed/low-boy trailers in varied conditions.
  • Perform pre- and post-trip inspections and document per DOT and company policies.
  • Report safety issues and/or required repairs.
  • Carry out basic vehicle maintenance to keep the truck safe.
  • Follow all DOT regulations and company safety guidelines.
  • Maintain official records for compliance (duty status, mileage, etc.).
  • Adhere to traffic laws and keep the truck clean and orderly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Purpose of Position

North American Rail Solutions (NARS) is seeking and a reliable and dependable Class A CDL Driver to join our team. The CDL Driver is responsible for the transportation of heavy equipment & material to and from job sites. This role is responsible for operating in a manner that will optimize the company’s efficiency and help achieve daily and weekly goals including driving to and from designated locations, verifying loads, maintain record of duty status according to state and federal regulations, and performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Properly secures heavy equipment or material for transport while ensuring all loads conform to local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Responsible for loading & unloading heavy equipment or materials for transportation, including proper securement and binding for proper transport to job sites.
  • Drive truck to and from designated destinations for up to 11 hours with and maximum of 14 hours total as DOT rules allow.
  • Safely drive a Class-A truck hauling equipment on a flatbed/low-boy trailer in a variety of conditions, including urban, suburban, and rural environments
  • Perform daily pre & post- trip inspections/safety checks with appropriate documentation in compliance with DOT guidelines and company policies.
  • Reports all safety issues and/or repairs required.
  • Performs minor repairs and preventative maintenance to ensure vehicle is in safe operation condition.
  • Follow all DOT regulations and company safety driving guidelines and policies.
  • Maintain records required for compliance with state and federal regulations including driver’s record of duty status, mileage records and other records required by law.
  • Obeying and following applicable traffic laws
  • Must keep truck in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
EDUCATION REQUIRED
  • High School Diploma or GED
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • At least 3 years of proven experience driving Class A vehicles
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
  • Valid Class A driver's license and medical card required
  • May require a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC).
  • Clean driving record
  • Ability to pass DOT physical and drug test
  • Must be able to operate manual transmission (13 speed)
  • Alert, focused, and detail-oriented
  • Strong knowledge of Federal and State DOT laws.
  • Ability to operate various pieces of heavy equipment
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Exceptional time management and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination with the ability to reach quickly to unforeseen situations.
  • Must be able to lift and carry items weighting at least 50 pounds
  • Proficient using GPS and other routing systems
