Qualifications

• Must possess a Class A CDL or a commercial learning permit (CLP) prior to entering job classification.
• Must maintain acceptable Motor Vehicle Record according to hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT regulatory requirements under 49 CFR 391.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds and work independently or with a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer, including doubles and/or straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies as required.
• Handle freight using forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Collect checks for freight charges and maintain records.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and placarding guidance.
• Follow Dispatch instructions for delays, arrivals, and issues.
• Provide internal and external customer service.
• Discuss customer needs for pick-up/delivery and generate sales leads.
• Where needed, perform road driver or freight handler duties.
• Chain vehicle tires and comply with laws and company policies.
