Job summary

Welch Packaging in Illinois seeks a professional truck driver to safely operate a tractor-trailer or box truck and deliver finished products to customers in compliance with DOT and company policies. You will be responsible for loading and unloading, maintaining the vehicle, adhering to routes and schedules, and completing all required documentation with accuracy.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Complies with Driver responsibilities per DOT and DAART program.
• Maintain vehicle per company policy.
• Operate vehicle safely and in compliance with laws.
• Transport loads along established routes to ensure on-time delivery.
• Inspect loads/pre-loads for accuracy and safety.
• Verify product count during loading and ensure proper documentation.
• Obtain acknowledgements and signatures for bills of lading; file documents.

SUMMARY

Responsible for safely and efficiently operating a tractor-trailer or box truck to deliver finished product to customers in accordance with state and federal laws

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Complies with Driver responsibilities as outlined in company DAART program and as required by DOT.
• Maintain vehicle in accordance to Elkhart Transportation management policy
• Operates vehicle in a safe and efficient manner complying with company policy and procedures, and applicable state and federal laws.
• Support on time delivery by transporting loads by established route to proper destination as efficient as possible while observing all traffic laws and safety regulations.
• Inspect trailer loads to ensure proper loading processes and it is the correct load before leaving facility.
• Verify product count while truck is being loaded.
• Comply with obtaining correct acknowledgement or signature and date for bill of lading and necessary signatures and date; return properly completed documentation to Transportation Manager.
• Comply with performance measures

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

• High School Diploma or GED required
• CDLA License

Experience

• Prior experience driving in large vehicles, such as box truck or similar
• Demonstrated experience practicing safe driving practices
• Previous experience delivering and handling freight preferred
