Job summary

Welch Packaging is seeking a driver to safely operate a tractor-trailer or box truck to deliver finished product to customers in accordance with state and federal laws. This is a 2nd shift, Monday through Friday, 2pm–11pm with no weekends and no OTR.

Responsibilities include adhering to the DAART program and DOT requirements, maintaining the vehicle, ensuring on-time deliveries, inspecting loads, and completing bill of lading documentation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CDLA license required.
• Experience driving large vehicles preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer/box truck safely and efficiently to deliver products per laws.
• Maintain vehicle according to company policy.
• Ensure on-time delivery by following established routes and observing traffic laws.
• Inspect loads and verify counts before leaving facility.
• Complete bill of lading documentation with required signatures.

Responsible for safely and efficiently operating a tractor-trailer or box truck to deliver finished product to customers in accordance with state and federal laws

Essential Functions

• Complies with Driver responsibilities as outlined in company DAART program and as required by DOT.
• Maintain vehicle in accordance to Elkhart Transportation management policy
• Operates vehicle in a safe and efficient manner complying with company policy and procedures, and applicable state and federal laws.
• Support on time delivery by transporting loads by established route to proper destination as efficient as possible while observing all traffic laws and safety regulations.
• Inspect trailer loads to ensure proper loading processes and it is the correct load before leaving facility.
• Verify product count while truck is being loaded.
• Comply with obtaining correct acknowledgement or signature and date for bill of lading and necessary signatures and date; return properly completed documentation to Transportation Manager.
• Comply with performance measures
• Duties may vary depending on location

Requirements/Qualifications

Education:

• High School Diploma or GED required
• CDLA License

Experience

• Prior experience driving in large vehicles, such as box truck or similar
• Demonstrated experience practicing safe driving practices
• Previous experience delivering and handling freight preferred
