McGrath Rent Corp in South Plainfield, NJ is seeking a CDL Driver for full-time, day-shift work with home daily. You will transport containers and portable offices, perform pre-trip inspections, and maintain safety standards to support smooth operations.

The position requires at least 1 year of Class A driving experience and the ability to operate in NJ and NY. A $5,000 signing bonus plus up to $1,000 quarterly bonuses are offered, along with comprehensive benefits and a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year recent verifiable Class A driving experience.
• Ability to drive in NJ and NY locations.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and operate winch/related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Pickup and drop portable containers and portable offices at locations.
• Perform cleaning and light repairs on the containers.
• Maintain compliance of required safety equipment and gear for self and any assigned vehicle.
• Complete quality check Pre and Post-Trip inspections; ensure mileage is reported appropriately for compliance or other reporting requirements.
• Coordinate maintenance on vehicles and do spot inspections for cleanliness and any potential driving hazards.
• Provide customer service to customers at the drop/pickup site and coordinate with the sales or operations staff on any issues.
• Communicate frequently with dispatch or operations on trips, delays, issues, etc.
• Perform other duties as assigned

You’ll be behind the wheel transporting oversized and overweight loads, ensuring each delivery is made safely, efficiently, and with a customer-first mindset. Whether you're relocating units, performing set-ups and knockdowns, or installing value-added features, your work directly supports our customers and keeps operations running smoothly. You’ll interact with customers regularly, becoming a trusted face they rely on. You will also clean and maintain the containers in our yard. Your attention to detail and commitment to safety ensures every unit is delivered in top condition. And the best part? You’ll enjoy steady, year-round work from Monday through Friday—and be home every night!

“What You’ll Do”

• Pickup and drop portable containers and portable offices at locations
• Perform cleaning and light repairs on the containers
• Maintain compliance of required safety equipment and gear for self and any assigned vehicle
• Complete quality check Pre and Post-Trip inspections; ensure that mileage is reported appropriately for compliance or other reporting requirements
• Coordinate maintenance on vehicles and do spot inspections for cleanliness and any potential driving hazards
• Provide customer service to customers at the drop/pickup site and coordinate with the sales or operations staff on any issues
• Communicate frequently with dispatch or operations on trips, delays, issues, etc.

“Must Haves”

• Minimum of 1 year recent verifiable Class A driving experience
• Ability to drive in NJ and NY locations
• Ability to work varied shifts including early morning day shift starts
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. up to shoulder level
• Ability work a winch and other equipment related to the tractor, tanks and boxes
• Ability to leverage straps and tie-downs to secure loads.

"Nice to Haves"

• Landoll trailer experience preferred

Special Considerations: Certain roles may require a clean-shaven face to ensure proper use of safety equipment. Candidates must be prepared to adhere to grooming standards specific to each site.

• Ability to enter and exit vehicle cabs, trailers, modular buildings, storage/office containers, inventory centers, and customer locations throughout the workday.
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, squat, reach, twist, and climb as required by the job.
• Ability to load, unload, secure, inspect, and connect equipment, materials, and cargo in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather, temperature, terrain, and environmental conditions.
• Ability to visually inspect vehicles, equipment, and loads and identify hazards using sight, mobility, and attention to surrounding conditions.
• Ability to use vehicle controls, tools, electronic devices, and load-securing equipment requiring manual dexterity and physical mobility.
• Ability to physically perform delivery, setup, retrieval, and inspection activities, including walking, bending, reaching, lifting, securing equipment, and working around vehicles, trailers, modular buildings, and storage/office containers.
